"Fall in the Oklahoma Kiamichi Country"

I sometimes find myself lost in the depth, color, and detail of this image. This is one of the better pieces of art I created in the early 1990's.

In 1991, my Freshman year of college, I went on Fall Break with a friend whose parents lived in Idabel, Oklahoma. Idabel is in the Southeast corner of the state near the intersection of Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas. One day during my stay we went on a hike in the Kiamichi Wilderness near their home and it was during that outing that I took this photo. As I recall, residents of this area pronounce the word like “kie-a-MEE-chee.”
